Our team is interested in:
- The study of the telomeric functions through natural evolution, their roles in the control mechanisms of the longevity of species, and more particularly in the evolutionary transition of the telomeric functions between rodents and primates, as well as the epigenetic mechanisms that are involved.
- The biophysical study of G-quadruplex structures that can form at the ends of telomeres in different organisms, by analyzing the stability and the dynamics of tandem G-quadruplexes and the influence of their interaction with protein partners such as POT1 and RPA.
- The chemical synthesis of small molecule ligands that are selective of telomere ends. We are synthesizing ligands that are able to bind G-quadruplex repeats or to recognize the duplex/G-quadruplex telomeric junction, and we are assessing their interactions with their target sequences and with telomeric protein partners in vitro and in cellular models.
